China stresses that it does not believe in hegemony in the way countries such as the U.S. do. It does not seek to form alliances or divisive blocs and, in turn, promotes multilateralism as its preferred means of engagement.
Texas (and some other states) took the unprecedented step of arming teachers to try to fight violent shooters, while doing less than nothing to protect kids from the virus.
It is in the best interests of not just China but the entire world to uphold the Olympic values of friendship, peace, and solidarity, and the unity of humankind begets stability, inclusiveness, and prosperity for the future generations to come.
Despite everything else going on in the world right now, the Beijing Paralympics will be an event of hope and justice, reminding us that every person, through the sheer determination of mind and optimism, has the power to triumph over adversity in their lives and never be ranked below or inferior to anyone else.
There is the inspiration generated by the athletes, whose character, discipline, sacrifice, courage, grit, heart, talent, creativity — every attribute that represents the best of human potential — are on display. These moments remind us that we can overcome almost any limitation.
Although it is a wealthy country, it nonetheless comes on the back of a political system that promotes extreme inequality and social disorder in the name of ‘freedom,’ which in practice upholds the interests of its wealthy elite against the population at large.
China’s economic prospects could be further boosted as it will serve as an effective safe haven for global growth, underlying its importance to the global economy.
Now the U.S. might end up taking actions that will slow down its economy while achieving no change in inflation. If this happens, prices will continue to rise for working Americans, but they will have less money to pay for it.
There must be a return to common sense and stability in the U.S.-China relationship.
U.S.’s Afghanistan policies are in a vicious cycle, causing more harm than good. Now, it’s time for a clean break, recognizing that these old policies have failed miserably.
Throughout their history the Games have had to surmount their use for political purposes. They have also successfully pursued inclusion of all nations, genders and a growing number of sporting disciplines.
